One idea we could try is create an information bulletin around renewable energy and promote it in the school, visit our local national school, inform our Parents through our website and school app.

John the Baptist CS Hospital

We have a few ideas. 1. Using biomass to power ESB power stations.   2, Using Tidal Power to power batteries. 3 Using wave energy to power boats.

Coláiste ChiaráinColáiste Chiaráin has been involved in the Greenschools Programme for over 15 years. The entire school community has worked tirelessly year on year to obtain each of our Green Flag awards. The green school's committee in conjunction with Croom tidy towns committee has jointly worked on different themes over the years. Students and teachers have participated in 'Team Limerick Clean up' since its inception. As a school, our focus has been on some area of climate change or saving water/electricity or recycling.

A huge problem that both staff and students have identified in our school currently is traffic and the amount of people getting dropped to school. Our school carried out a survey and 62% of these people live close enough to the school to walk or cycle. A huge problem indicated by students is that our school does not have enough bike racks. We want to get creative using recycled tyres to make these new racks. we also want to organise a day where we have a walk or cycle to school day or car pool. We plan to work with the limerick county council and have a liaison from the county council to get advice from them, especially with the area of safety. The main outcome we would hope to come from this is awareness, that there is no need for every student to be dropped to the door and it is very easy to change. also if people were made more aware of the significant impact these pointless journeys are having on climate change and global warming maybe they might stop and think about their actions.  Our TY’s will be doing traffic audits on the Corbally to get us ready and to help us be up on our statistics of the situation. This will also help us monitor any improvements.

Limerick East Educate Together

We already have a school garden and plant using seed savers products we also have an orchard and a mini forest we are working hard for sustainability...Out focus now is on our bees and bringing them back into our environment planting and developing spaces for them to live

Scoil Mhuire agus Ide

We do an annual fashion show in TY each year which is open to the general public we hope to use this as our platform to raise the money and awareness of renewable energy in the community with an art based project

Castletroy College

Recycling initiative, where Castletroy college could be used as a location to bring old and broken electrical items. We could also connect up with UL. Also the possibility of looking at solar panels for our new sports changing rooms for hot water. Also to connect up with a local green businesses and have a 'green day' in our school around St. Patrick's day, inviting in companies e.g., Vistacon ( wind turbine in use), Eco straws( Limerick based) Metal recycling companies etc.
