Friends of the Earth Ireland Internship Programme 2010

The Opportunity
Friends of the Earth is recruiting an intern to participate in our fifth annual internship programme. The successful candidate will work as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team.

We are recruiting for one internship: Young Friends of the Earth Intern

Young Friends of the Earth Intern
Your job is to support our campaign mobilization and activism work. The role will have a particular focus on supporting the establishment of Young Friends of the Earth in Ireland. If you have experience of youth work, organizing student societies, environmental activism or volunteering with NGOs then you will have an advantage in a role that will give you the opportunity to take the Young FoE idea and run with it, as well as working with some of Ireland's leading environmental and NGO campaigners.

The Organization
Friends of the Earth (www.foe.ie) is the Irish member of the world's largest network of environmental groups with over one million supporters and campaigners organized in 70 countries (www.foei.org). Launched in Ireland in 2004, our priority campaign is on climate change. As well as our own campaign for a law to ensure action to reduce climate pollution, Friends of the Earth plays a leading role in the Stop Climate Chaos coalition which brings together environmental, overseas aid and faith groups to campaign for Ireland to do its fair share to prevent runaway climate change.

The Commitment
This post is for 20 hours a week for six months (the duration is negotiable and can also be extended in certain circumstances). The allocation of weekly hours will be agreed between the Director and each intern. This internship is on a voluntary basis. However, there will be a very small allowance to cover transport and lunch.

The Application Process
To apply, please send your CV, along with an email saying why you would like the position to youngfoe@foe.ie. Closing date: Monday 17th May 2010. Interviews are planned for Friday 28th May. It is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to start by end of June at the latest. Given the high volume of applications last year, we regret we can only undertake to reply to short-listed candidates.
