The First Green Drinks of 2009 will take place on Tuesday 3 February from 6pm in the South William Bar in South William Street, Dublin 2.

Green Drinks is a simple idea that's gone global. Once a month in 416 cities around the world people with an interest in green issues get together to chat, share ideas and raise a glass to a brighter future. The event is made simple and informal and is a chance to mix with other like-minded people, share info and make friends & contacts.

Biofuels: Fueling the future or fueling destruction?

This month Colin Roche, Policy and Advocacy Coordinator with Oxfam Ireland, will fill us in on where the debate on biofuels has got to. Are they still the fuel of the future or is this post-oil dream already turning into a nightmare for the rainforests of the global south and the poor communities who depend on them for a livelihood?

This 10 minute talk with and 10 minute Q&A will provide grist to your mill for the evening's conversations and debates.

Green Drinks in Ireland is organized by Leaf Living and Friends of the Earth.

Looking forward to seeing you there on Tuesday next.
