Civic Forum on Climate Change, Monday 5 December

A Civic Forum on Climate Change will be held on tonight in the Round Room in the Dublin Mansion House in Dawson St. The event is timed to coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference and the start of the renegotiations of the Kyoto Protocol post 2012 in Montreal. The event will be chaired by Olivia O'Leary and it will run from 8.00pm to 10.00pm.

The Civic Forum on Climate Change will explore the key issues surrounding climate change such as the science behind global warming and the impacts both here and abroad. A variety of speakers, representing a broad spectrum of civil society, will also discuss the solutions available and their role in lowering Greenhouse gas emissions. There will be a live link to the United Nations Climate Change conference in Montreal. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Participants include Mary Kelly - Environmental Protection Agency, John Sweeney - National University of Ireland Maynooth, Jim Devin - Irish Farmers' Association, Daniel McCoy - Irish Business and Employers Federation, Eddie O'Connor - Airtricity, Gerry McGaughey - Century Homes, John Henry - Dublin Transportation Office, Henk Van Der Kamp -Dublin Institute of Technology, and Political Party representatives.
