This year the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will issue four landmark reports on climate change. The first in February was on the physical science of climate change. This second report is on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability. The IPCC bases its reports on the work of over 2000 scientists published in peer-reviewed journals. Here you can download the Summary for Policy Makers which was approved by officials from the more than 100 countries that sponsor this UN body. While the role of the political representatives tends to dilute the reports slightly towards the lowest common denominator it establishes their authority beyond doubt. Countries, including the US, China and Saudi Arabia have signed off that the IPCC reports represent the state of the science.
