The dedication and commitment of constituents from across Ireland made the day!
Over 1000 constituents from across Ireland met their TDs on 7th December during a mass online Lobby for Faster and Fairer Climate Action. They voiced their climate concerns and demanded that loopholes in the 2020 Climate Action Bill be closed.
We've been overwhelmed by the passion and dedication of ordinary citizens who took part in the Lobby, making the event a tremendous success. Like never before our politicians have heard the people’s desire for faster and fairer climate action! It’s not always easy to speak to TDs about climate change - for some people it can be quite daunting. And attending meetings spread throughout the day can be tricky with so much else going on in our lives. So from the bottom of our hearts, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made such a big effort to take part on the day.
Meeting TDs is a powerful way to act on climate change - those who took part in the lobby are climate heroes! We're also deeply grateful for the amazing work done by volunteers and local One Future groups to organise people for the Lobby - the day couldn't have happened without them!
The TD Lobby made quite a splash in the media! It was covered in the Irish Times in both the print and online format - you can read the online article here. We especially liked the Journal.ie’s coverage of the event as it included a lovely photo of people at the Lobby’s closing rally.
We look forward to taking more action for faster and fairer climate action in the New Year!
