Have you got #onegoodidea?

Did you see Saturday's Irish Independent? We were impressed to see their 5-page special on climate change and their acknowledgement that we need to act now, not sometime in the future! They are running a week-long Climate Change and You campaign to inform and engage their readers. We think that's a great idea so we have made it really easy for you to get involved, here's how:

First there's a short survey on what Ireland should do to address climate change. We think it would be great if you have your say. The more of our supporters who make their views known the better. We're particularly keen on your answers to questions 2, 5 and 9 ;-).

The Independent are also asking you to tell them your #onegoodidea to tackle climate change. You can use this handy link to send them yours. If you're in a rush we've given you a couple of ideas to choose from, but obviously it's even better if you write one in your own words. The best ideas will be published on the Independent.ie and in the Irish Independent.

They'd also like you to tweet your #onegoodidea . And we'd like you to retweet our top idea too :-). Click on the image below to do that.

Among the articles they've published so far is one on the increasing threat of winter flooding, and analysis from Frank McGovern of the EPA and Joe Curtin of the IIEA. We were also delighted to see our own Chairperson, Dr Cara Augustenborg was listed as one of the "20 influencers who will shape our response to climate change", along with the likes of Prof John Sweeney and Dr Lorna Gold from Trócaire.

And...find out what 10 actions they suggest can make a difference on climate change. We particularly like No.10 - talk to your local TD. And we'll be back to you soon about an opportunity to do just that.

Meantime, we think the Independent are doing significant public service journalism this week. So let's take part. And we think your voice matters, let them hear it!

All the best,

P.S. The Journal.ie are running an online poll today on "Should fracking be banned in Ireland? ". We are working with local campaigners and TDs of various parties to draft and pass legislation that will ban fracking. So, take a minute to Vote Yes!
