Summary
The nuclear industry is presenting itself as part of the solution to climate change in an effort to use the concerns about fossil fuels to drive a nuclear revival. This report, co-written by Friends of the Earth Australia demolishes the claims that nuclear power gives you low carbon energy by looking at the environmental impact of the whole nuclear life cycle from uranium mining to waste disposal, not just the moment of electricity generation. Moreover, the economics of nuclear make no sense depending as they do on massive government subsidies.
