Who supports a law

Arnold Schwarzenegger for one.
In 2006, the Governor of California signed a law to cut California's carbon emissions by 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. If California were an independent country its economy would be the fifth largest in the world so this is a significant step in the struggle against climate change.

Tony Blair is another.
After two years of campaigning lead by Friends of the Earth, the British Govenment has published a bill to cut the UK's emissions by 60% by 2050 and introduce 5-year carbon budgets. Friends of the Earth thinks this is a step in the right direction, but not enough. The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats support our call for an annual carbon budget and 3% cuts in pollution every year.

Barack Obama and John McCain.
The two leading Democrat and Republican candidates in the 2008 race for the US Presidency joined forces to co-sponsor a bill in the Senate to cut US emissions by 25% by 2020 and 60% by 2050.

Now it's Ireland's turn
