The Board of Directors
Friends of the Earth Ireland is governed by a Board of Directors. The current members of the Board are as follows.
The Chairperson
Dr Cathy Maguire is an environmental scientist with Comhar, the National Sustainable Development Council which advises the Irish government. She is also visiting research fellow at Queen's University in Belfast.
The members
Damian O'Broin is the director of Ask Direct, a leading direct marketing consultancy for the non-profit sector. He previously worked for the Public Communications Centre for 12 years.
Professor John Sweeney is a senior lecturer in NUI Maynooth and is one of Ireland's leading climate scientists. He is a member of the Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Stephen Rourke is an independent researcher and consultant who works primarily with organisations within the voluntary and community sector in Ireland.
Nessa Ní Chasaide is Co-ordinator of Debt and Development Coalition Ireland (DDCI).
Jude Torley is Company Director of Unicorn Inter Ltd - Holistic retrofit energy solutions for commercial and social housing.
Cara Augustenborg works with Prof. Christoph Müller managing a Research Stimulus funded project evaluating the environmental impact and sustainability of Irish grassland as a source for bioenergy generation. Cara is also the Irish Ambassador for Ben & Jerry's Climate Change College and founder of a popular website on environmental home rennovations (www.GreenDIY.ie).
