The Board of Directors
Friends of the Earth Ireland is governed by a Board of Directors. The current members of the Board are as follows.
The Chairperson
Dr Cathy Maguire is an environmental scientist with Comhar, the National Sustainable Development Council which advises the Irish government. She is also visiting research fellow at Queen's University in Belfast.
The members
Damian O'Broin is the director of Ask Direct, a leading direct marketing consultancy for the non-profit sector. He previously worked for the Public Communications Centre for 12 years.
Ivana Bacik is an independent member of Seanad Eireann representing Trinity College where she is Reid Professor of Criminal Law. She is also a practicing barrister.
Professor John Sweeney is a senior lecturer in NUI Maynooth and is one of Ireland's leading climate scientists. He is a member of the Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Stephen Rourke is an independent researcher and consultant who works primarily with organisations within the voluntary and community sector in Ireland.
Sadhbh O'Neill is a part-time teacher based in Kilkenny and a former assessor for the Irish Environmental Network.
